Hello Gilbrinkle Winklers!

Welcome to my new blog! This blog is a way for me to connect with my readers. I hope you’ll share your thoughts and insights on Drats, Foiled Again!, Bombs Away!, Prepare to Be Repaired!, and The Healing Bucket.

When I started writing the Drats series, my boys were really young and I had been inspired to write something fun for them after watching a Disney movie (repeatedly)–Sky High. Recently I heard a rumor that Disney is planning a sequel! How exciting is that!

I’d like to give you an update on my current book projects. I’m just about to approve the final version of the Bombs Away! audiobook, narrated by the incredibly talented voice actor Jay Spaulding. He also narrated the first book, Drats, Foiled Again! so I’m very excited to hear him reprise his many roles, doing the voices for Rupert, Robert, Plastic Palms, Famine Mouth, and all the other characters. (My personal favorite is the way he voices Famine Mouth’s character. Makes me laugh every time!)

In other news, I am currently drafting Book 3 of the Drats Universe, titled Prepare to Be Repaired!. It has been a joy to review the original story from each twin’s perspective and to decide where the next adventure will find them. Rupert still has a huge chip on his shoulder. He may have grown a lot throughout Bombs Away! but he still can’t imagine a world in which he fails to rule with his superior mind. Robert still mainly wants family, friendship, and peace. He’s happy using his powerful talent to make other people happy, fixing what’s broken in the world. Our newest hero is going to have his work cut out for him when Rupert returns from his year in Transylvania, where he trained other brilliant villains in the fine art of super genius engineering. The gadgets! Oh, the gadgets! And I know you’re all wondering what’s going on these days with Famine Mouth.

Another project that is close to my heart is a follow-up to The Healing Bucket. You may already have read about our baby daughter who blessed us with her gentle presence for one day before going home to heaven. Her coming and going has had a permanent effect on me, and I know one day I’ll write more about it than the meandering feelings I’ve recorded alongside my husband and oldest son on our family blog about Abigail. I have mostly scattered thoughts and hopes for this future project, and I will probably give myself time to let them condense and come together into something truly beautiful, reflective of Abigail’s brief life.

There’s a lot to look forward to! Stay with me as I release the next audiobook and the next print/ebook in the Drats Universe. We’re going to have fun together exploring the world of Robert and his evil twin Rupert. Happy reading!
